Waggin' Train Rescue

All Our Sponsors

January 2011
  • Katherine B. of Yonkers, NY adopted one of Nanette's rescued rottweilers Lex last spring. We just received a check for $300 from her company Neon Liberty Capital Management as a year end donation to our rescue on behalf of Katherine, as a result of their donation matching program. We are so thankful to Neon Liberty Capital Management for their generousity and for Katherine for thinking of us with her company's program. Lex is a lucky boy to have such a compassionate and thoughtful mama.
  • Bobby K. of NY, NY suffered the loss of his beloved canine companion, and saw sweet Sosa posted on our site. Although he and his partner's hearts are still too raw from their recent loss, Bobby made a donation of $25 to help to sponsor Sosa while he waits for a loving home of his own. We are so appreciative of his thoughtfulness on Sosa's behalf.
  • Will P. of Syossett, NY who is one of Nanette's foster dads (he previously fostered Benson, and is currently fostering Claus) has once again stunned us with his generosity of support. Will sent in a $1000 gift to help us in our efforts to get great dogs out of the shelter system and to give them the chance they need to find loving homes and families. We will be using Will's donation to help us with our biggest expense, our boarding bills. We are truly grateful for your support Will, and we know that Benson and Claus are too. :)
  • Tara H. of Barto, PA has sent us a donation of $100. We are so thankful to her for such a wonderful and generous gesture on behalf of our rescue dogs. Her gift will cover the cost of boarding of one of our rescue dogs for 10 days while they wait for us to find them the perfect fitting home.
  • John and Cathie S. of Medford, NJ adopted Lady (nka Lilly) on of Nanette's rescue dogs. They are now going to foster to adopt one of her young male mastiff's named Kuvo, whom she rescued from the Brooklyn Shelter on Christmas eve morning when he was slated to die. This sweet boy has touched so many hearts, and when John and Cathie saw him, they sent Nanette a check for $300 to sponsor his boarding while he recovered from the kennel cough he picked up at the shelter. Nanette has used the balance of funds left over towards getting him the cherry eye surgery he needed for his left eye, as well as having his rear dew claws removed. This sweet boy is lucky to have two wonderful Guardian Angels such as John and Cathie. :)
December 2010
  • Fred K. of Oakland, CA is Jane's brother who sent in a $25 donation towards our rescue efforts. Thank you for your end of year gift, we'll be using it to help us offset some of our monthly rescue expenses.
  • Mr. & Mrs. Gary G. of Old Bethpage, NY sent us an end of year donation of $250. They are the parents of Samantha G. who learned about our rescue efforts when she saw many of the dogs we've rescued on different FaceBook pages. Her parents included this very kind note "My daughter recommended your organization as one worthy of our contribution to help the helpless, dogs, cats, and other animals in NYC, who are in need." We are so appreciative of entire family for their support, generousity and kindness to our rescue dogs. We're lucky to have them in our corner. :)
  • Jeannie S. mailed us an end of year gift for $200. Jeannie is the mom of one of Nanette's previous adopters Carrie S. of PA. Carrie adopted Lindy, who is now know as Macy. Jeannie included a lovely note that says "in honor of one of your delightful rescues who has given our daughter so much joy." We're grateful for Jeannie's very generous gift, and know that Macy is even luckier to have Carrie as her mama. Wishing them all a great New Year ahead!
  • Danna P. of Selden, NY is one of our previous sponsors...contributing towards on of Katya's rescue dog Goober's vet care. She has yet again demostrated her generousity towards our rescue dogs, by sending in a wonderful year end gift of $50. We are so very appreciative to have supporters like Danna, and are in awe of her continued compassion and empathy for our rescue dogs.
  • Laura P. of NY, NY adopted one of Nanette's rescue dogs Maize last December. Maize has just thrived in her care, and is such a lucky girl. Obviously Laura's compassion didn't end with adopting Maize though, as she has just sent in a $100 donation a year. We are so thankful for her continued support of our rescue efforts, and wish she and Maize another great year together. :)
  • Sara D. of Exeter, RI adopted Sunny, one of Katya's rescue dogs, last September. Sara hasn't stopped there though...she has also just sent us a $50 donation to our rescue, and included these kind words "She is a gentle loving girl and faithful companion and we adore her. Thank you for saving her and we hope that you will continue to save more wonderful dogs like her." Sara, it's due to people like you who open up their hearts and homes to our rescue dogs that we are able to continue doing what we are passionate about. We are so appreciative of your continued support.
  • Julian S. of NY, NY is one of Katya's previous adopters. She so generously sent us an end of year donation of $100. We are very grateful for her kindness. Not only did she give a wonderful home to one of our rescue dogs, but her compassion is obvious in her continued support of our other rescue dogs waiting for their chance at a home.
  • Danicia A. of Larchmont, NY is one of Nanette's regular foster moms (including Antonia, Sasha, Cici and Bruno.) She and her family have such huge hearts and tons of patience for the rescue dogs that find themselves lucky enough to be welcomed into their home. They have once again overwhelmed us with their generosity, by sending in a year end donation of $500 to help us with our never ending rescue expenses. We are very thankful for their support of our rescue dogs and our rescue efforts.
  • Aimee S. of Waukesha, WI has sent in a sponsorship of Greg, one of Nanette's rescue dogs she has since renamed Claus. Aimee saw his plight on FaceBook when he was on the euthanasia list to die. When she saw that Nanette rescued him at the last minute, she sent in a sponsorship of $50 to help with his boarding. Rescue is a team effort for sure, and Nanette is so grateful to Aimee for the financial help for Claus. We're happy to report that after 3 weeks in boarding, Claus is now in a foster home, and will be soaking up lots of attention and love while he waits for a forever home.
  • Dianne B. of Mansfield, MA, one of Nanette's previous adopters and supporters, has sent us an end of year holiday gift of $750 to sponsor both Pudgie and Claus while they wait for a home. Both these sweet souls have only experienced the negatives that humans can inflict, and now with Dianne's generous sponsorship, they are beginning to realize there is a better life ahead of them...full of love, fun and adventure. Dianne, not only did Brady hit the jackpot when he became a member of your family, but you are touching the hearts of our other dogs as well. Thank you, truly.
  • Dorothy D. of Marlboro, NJ has sent us a very generous donation to continue the sponsorship of Laya and Mia. These two sweet girls were saved from the shelter by Katya after Dorothy's son Ryan offered to sponsor their boarding until they could find a home. Dorothy's gift to Ryan for the holidays is to pay for a months boarding for BOTH Laya and Mia. Wow, it's not hard to see where Ryan got his genes for compassion and the love of animals from. We are so grateful to have yet another member of the Doyle family supporting our rescue efforts, and Laya and Mia are lucky girls to have the Doyle family on their side. We hope that they will find their forever homes very soon...they are both such sweet souls.
  • One of our Waggin' Train Rescue board members, Lynn P. and her husband Mike S. of Brooklyn, NY, have just made an end of the year holiday donation of $500 to our rescue. We, like so many other nonprofit 501c3 organizations, always struggle financially with our boarding and medical expenses. As a result, we're always so humbled by people that keep us in mind for year end charitable donations, and we use 100% of them to support our rescue efforts. Lynn, thank you for the expertise and time you offer us as one of our board members, and now your additional generousity and kindness just blows us away.
  • Lynette L. of Charlottesville, Virgina has sent us a wonderful gift of $25 for our rescue dogs. We are so appreciative of her compassion and kindness. Thank you Lynette!
  • The customers of the Park Cafe in Hauppauge, NY have yet again shown their generousity and support of our rescue efforts by filling yet another donation jar with $300. We use the funds to help us offset our monthly boarding costs. We are so lucky to have them as supporters and friends, many regularly following our website and rescue dog's progress. A special shout out to Joy F., who owns the cafe, and is also one of our regular foster mom's and helps us in so many ways.
  • Reem L. of Woodbridge, VA fell in love with a male pitbull named Jack at the Brooklyn Shelter, she later found out that Nanette had stepped up to rescue. Jack has all the strikes against him...but has so many fans pulling for him. 1. He is an adult. 2. He is a Pit Bull/Staffordshire Terrier. 3. He is black. Despite those challenges, Nanette knows that with perceverence she can find Jack the loving home he so deserves. Reem is helping Nanette in her quest by sending in a check for $300 which will sponsor Jack's boarding for a month. This is the second rescue dog that Reem has sponsored, and we are so thankful for her compassion and generousity.
November 2010
  • Ryan D. and his wife Kathleen of NY, NY are one of Katya's previous adopters and have been wonderful supporters of our rescue efforts. Ryan contacted Katya about sponsoring a sweet frightened young female shepherd mix named Laya he saw at the Manhattan Shelter who was in danger because her time was up. After speaking with us about her, he discovered that there was actually another older female as well named Mia at the same shelter that was also in the same dire straits, due to her time also being at an end. Instead of picking just one of the girls to save, Ryan blew us away by deciding to sponsor BOTH Laya and Mia. These lucky girls literally have Ryan to thank for saving their lives, because we would not have been able to help them without his financial gift for their care and boarding of $400. Those funds will help us pay for their boarding expenses while we find them the wonderful homes they so deserve. Ryan, thank you yet again for your continued generosity and compassion towards these homeless at risk shelter dogs, that are now safely on board the Waggin' Train! We are so very grateful for your help and support, and so are they. :)
  • Peter M. of NY, NY was touched by Emily's story (the sweet Basset mix pup that Jane rescued, and is now recovering from the Parvo virus) and has sent us a gift of $50 to help with her medical expenses. Peter we are in turn touched by your thoughtful and generous gift for Emily, and know if she could see you herself would show her appreciation with a gentle lick and nudge to your hand. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving Peter.
  • Nanette was agonizing over trying to help a pit bull mix named Jack, who was slated to be euthanized within hours of her getting the plea from the shelter for him. The problem and balancing act that we always face in rescue is the ability to save another shelter dog when finances are so tight. However, Nanette's decision became clear when several advocates that followed his story on FaceBook stepped up with the offer to sponsor Jack if it would assist him in getting the chance he live and get out of the shelter. So with their financial help, Nanette was able to get him to safety and begin the process of finding him the safe and loving home he needs so badly. Two of these wonderful compassionate souls were Carolyn B. of Alberta, Canada and the other was Allison D. of Hoboken, NJ. Both these generous ladies each sent in a $200 donation, which will cover Jack's boarding for a month as well as his neuter. We are so very grateful for their commitment towards Jack, and our rescue efforts. Jack is a lucky boy for sure!
  • Jane Z. of Bedford, PA has sent us a wonderful $20 gift towards Emily's vet bill. Jane Z., like our own Jane, also has an affinity and love for the Basset Hound breed. We're happy to report that Emily continues to make progress and is getting stronger every day. She is a lucky pup to have so many Jane's in her fan club! :)
  • Pat C. of Quincy, MA has sent us a gift of $50. Pat had followed the rescue of Mary, one of Nanette's recent rescue dogs, and was thrilled to see that she has found a loving home to begin a new life in. In honor of Mary, Pat will be sponsoring Nanette's most recent rescue dog Sara, a sweet young female staffie that was dumped by her owners at the high kill shelter in Brooklyn after her puppies were old enough to be taken away from her and sold. She is what we refer to as a "throw away Mama." With Pat's support, Sara will hopefully soon find a new loving home and family like Mary did. Thank you so much Pat for following and supporting our rescue efforts. :)
  • We received a wonderful donation of $75 from Jane E. of NYC. We are so appreciative of her kindness and generosity and will be using the funds she has sent to help us offset our medical and boarding expenses. Jane is making the donation on behalf of Pearl, who she wished to thank for taking such good care of her Australian Terrier, Spanky! :)
  • Nanette received an adoption application from Donna & Gino A. of Staten Island, NY for one of several of her rescue dogs. Due to an upcoming vacation they are taking in November they are going to delay their adoption process until their return. Not only do they want to open up their heart and home to our rescue dogs, but they also sent us a very generous gift of $100 to give their support of our continued rescue efforts. It is such a thoughtful gesture and we are honored to have them as supporters. Nanette is looking forward to assisting them in their search for a wonderful companion upon their return from vacation. I wonder which lucky dog it's going to be? :)
October 2010
  • Maddy N. of Brooklyn, NY has so kindly donated $75 towards Emily's (Pumpkin) medical treatment. Emily (Pumpkin), a basset hound mix puppy, was rescued by Jane from the Brooklyn Shelter, and it was immediately clear that she was very sick. Quickly diagnosed, she was literally fighting for her life from Parvo. Jane has insured that she has gotten the best of care, and as a result this sweet pup is pulling through although still critical. She has a long road of recovery in front of her, but the vets feel confident she will recover and have the opportunity to experience a wonderful life ahead. Emily's struggle has touched Maddy, and she wanted to help us offset the huge medical bills we are facing. We are very grateful for her thoughtful words of support, and her compassion towards our rescue dogs. Thank you very much Maddy.
  • Liz & John S. of Millburn, NJ have very graciously sponsored Babette, one of Jane's rescue dogs. Liz is an advocate for dogs at a high kill shelter in North Carolina. She was instrumental in getting Babette rescued by Jane, transported up to us and then went a step further and sponsored her boarding for a month ($300.) Unfortunately after her arrival to us, it was determined that sweet Babette was Heartworm positive and that she was going to have to undergo treatment to get well again before she could be adopted. Liz, so committed to Babette's welfare sent yet another donation of $300 towards her medical care and treatment for the heartworms. We are blown away by Liz's financial support of Babette and our rescue, and cannot express fully our thanks and gratitude of her generosity. She is truly a Guardian Angel to Babette, and all the other canine souls she advocates for at the shelter in NC.
  • We are so thankful to Denise B. of the Bronx, NY who sent us a gift of $50 to our rescue efforts. Denise had submitted an application for Conan, a 4 month old Cane Corso/Pit Bull pup that Nanette had rescued. Unfortunately Nanette had already placed him with another great family. Despite her disappointment, Denise still wanted to support our efforts, and her generosity was so very kind.
  • Mountain Rottweiler Rescue has sent us a $100 sponsorship for Bert, a 5 year old male rottweiler that Nanette pulled from the Brooklyn Shelter. MMR and Nanette had been closely working with the shelter on saving Bert. As is common with Nanette and several of the reputable rottweiler breed rescues dealing with the NYC Shelter systems, they try to work together to save as many of these wonderful displaced dogs. Many times due to space availability or training issues, one rescue is unable to save a dog, so another one of us will step up. That is what happened in Bert's case, his time was up, he was in imminent danger of being euthanized (within hours) and Nanette was able to save him. MRR very generously and so thoughtfully went above and beyond and sent in a gift of sponsorship for Bert's boarding for 10 days. This gesture was so very appreciated by Nanette, and she is honored to have their support and friendship in this crazy world of rescue. Bert has touched many hearts, and he is so lucky to have MMR as one of his Guardian Angels. :)
  • Kelly A. of Rexford, NY is a member of Mountain Rottie Rescue, a NY based Rottweiler rescue that is known for it's integrity and commitment to the breed. Kelly found out that Nanette saved a male rottweiler named Bert from the Brooklyn Shelter, and she sent in a personal sponsorship of $40 towards his boarding. Nanette is honored to have such rescue friends and their support.
  • Trudy G. of Balwin, NY just adopted Alissa, one of Nanette's rescue pups. Not only is Alissa settling in wonderfully with Trudy, she is thriving! When Trudy sent in Alissa's adoption fee, she included an additional $50 to be used towards Alissa's boarding costs after she was rescued, and before Trudy adopted her. Our boarding costs are our highest expense and we are so appreciative of Trudy's kindness...not only offering us financial support by way of her donation, but for opening up her heart and home to one of our rescue dogs. Alissa has an awesome future ahead of her, she is such a lucky girl!
  • Marc & Cathy V. of Millburn, NJ had submitted an application for one of Nanette's rescued rotties named Rosie. After meeting her, they determined that she would unfortunately not be a great fit for their home dynamic (she was a still very much a puppy.) However, they still wanted to support our efforts of rescuing and rehoming so many great dogs that they decided to sponsor Rosie's boarding at the kennel for 10 days while Nanette continued her search for another wonderful family that would offer Rosie the home she needed. We're thrilled to report that Rosie has found that home and life! We're so thankful to Marc and Cathy for their generosity and thoughtfulness to Rosie, and our rescue.
  • Paul, Tracy and Kyle of Wood Ridge, NJ have sent us a gift of $200 in honor of King, one of Nanette's rescued rottweilers that they had hoped to make a member of their family. Unfortunately, their own male lab Demon and King weren't feeling as loving towards each other as the rest of the family was, and the adoption didn't work out. King really touched their hearts during his brief stay with them, and as a result they are so generously making a donation in his honor. We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness and for opening up their heart and home to a rescue dog. We know that soon another lucky rescue dog will hit the jackpot when it becomes a member of their family.
  • Jackie V. of Brooklyn, NY is one of our regular supporters. We are honored to receive her gift of $80 this month, and feel priviledged that she has such a wonderful loyalty to our rescue dogs. Thank you so much Jackie!
September 2010
  • It's heartbreaking when we are maxed out financially with dogs in boarding and just can't rescue any others until some of our current rescue dogs are successfully rehomed and settled in. There are so many dogs in need at the shelter every day...its probably one of the hardest aspects of rescue...having to say, "I'm sorry, I can't help." However, on occasion the volunteers or visitors at the shelters will step up and sponsor a dog that has really touched their hearts. They know that the rescues are full, and in order to help get a special dog to safety they will send a check to help offset the cost of boarding the dog, while it is waiting for us to find him (or her) a home. That is what happened with our rescue dog named Webster (whom we rescued on September 4th.) He is sponsored by two of the Manhattan Shelter volunteers. Patricia P. of NY, NY sponsored Webster for $200, which will cover 20 days of boarding for him. And Rita B. also of NY, NY sponsored Webster for $300, which will cover his boarding for a month. As cute as Webster is, it can take 2-12 weeks to place some of our rescue dogs, so we are very grateful for Pat and Rita for their generousity and love towards Webster. We literally would not have been able to rescue him without their support.
  • Amie L. of Swanton, VT is one of our volunteers, helping us with reference checks etc. She was very interested in adopting Bean, one of Nanette's young female Cane Corso mastiffs, the end of August. Unfortunately, Amie and her husband were unable to receive Bean until mid September but sent in $100 to sponsor her boarding for us until she could be transported up to VT. We're very grateful of the financial help towards Bean's boarding, but more importantly thrilled that Bean is so happy in her new home, soaking up the country air and all the love Amie and Jeff have to give her. :)
  • We are so appreciative of the $100 grant we received from Teresa J. of Stamford, CT in conjunction with the Foundation Source Charity Foundation Inc. We are very grateful for their generousity and support of our rescue efforts.
  • Jackie V. of Brooklyn, NY has sent us another gift of $80 to help us offset some of our rescue expenses. We are so thankful for her donation and compassion towards our rescue dogs, many of them familiar to her when she is volunteering her time at the shelter.
  • Michelle and Jerry C. of Hudson, NH are previous adopters of Nanette's (adopting Josh, an awesome loving American Bulldog mix this past May.) Their adoption of Josh opened their eyes to how many wonderful rescue dogs are out there just waiting for their opportunity to find a loving home. Since then, they have actively followed our website, watching the progress of our rescue dogs and wanting to continue to support our efforts. They just sent us a wonderful donation of $60 to sponsor one of Nanette's recent rescues, Lizzie, a super sweet 9 month old lab/staffie mix who was slated to die because her time was simply up at the shelter. We are so grateful for their kindness and generousity, and will use their gift towards Lizzie's boarding while she waits for a loving home like the one that Michelle and Jerry gave to Josh.
  • Liz S. of NY, NY fell in love with Betsy, a wonderful young shepherd mix that was sitting at the Brooklyn Shelter waiting for a chance. Liz stepped up to sponsor Betsy so she could get to safety, and sent Nanette $250 to be used towards her boarding expenses. We are blown away by her committment to partnering with us in Betsy's rescue. Betsy is now safe, and is such a lucky girl to have Betsy as her Guardian Angel. And we are honored to have Liz support our rescue efforts in such a generous way.
  • Julia S. of Basking Ridge, NJ has continued her generous sponsorship of Riley, one of Nanette's mastiffs that has been waiting at the boarding kennel quite a while for a home of his own. Julia sent us another $100 towards his boarding bill, and we (as well as Riley!) are so very appreciative of her support. Our boarding fees are our biggest expense, costing us $10/day per dog. As you can imagine, it adds up quickly with the number of dogs we rescue.
August 2010
  • Jackie V. of Brooklyn, NY is a volunteer at the Brooklyn Shelter where we rescue many of our dogs from. Jackie's not only gives of her time and energy by spending time with many of the dogs that find themselves sitting at the shelter, but the additional information she is able to gain about the dogs she interacts with is invaluable to the rescue groups that are trying to save and rehome the dogs. Being able to give love and attention to these dogs that are completely shell shocked at finding themselves in such an overwhelming and frightening environment is such an act of compassion on Jackie's part. Now she has sent us a gift of $80 to continue her support of these homeless shelter dogs. We are so very grateful for her thoughtfulness and generosity of not only her donation, but her commitment to the Brooklyn ACC dogs.
  • Ayako U. of Ardsley, NY has sent us a $63 donation. We will use these funds to cover boarding of one of our rescue dogs for 6 days while they wait for us to find them a home, or towards spaying or neutering one of our rescue dogs. We are so appreciative of your thoughtfulness and support of our rescue efforts.
  • Richard M. of Brooklyn, NY sent in a $100 sponsorship for Fonzie, a 10 month old Cane Corso mastiff pup that Nanette Rescued in July. Fonzie was kept for most of his young life in a crate that was much too small for him, and was unable to stand and develop properly. As a result he is suffering with joint issues in both his front legs and his right rear hip. He will need braces to help straighten his front legs, and definitely surgery to repair his hip. Richard's compassion and kindness towards Fonzie and our rescue efforts is so very appreciated. As soon as Richard's building passes a new ordinance that he can have a dog, Nanette will be anxious to show him a bunch of big, mushy candidates that have been patiently waiting for a loving home.
July 2010
  • Chris C. of Boston, MA has sent a $200 gift in memory of Killian, the beloved loyal companion of his dear friends, the McCurdy Family of Kent, WA. Killian, a 100 pound red Labrador was loved and cherished for 15 years, and passed away quietly this week within their arms. Nanette will be using Chris's donation to sponsor Kilo, a wonderful 4 year old Black Lab/Mastiff mix she rescued just yesterday when he was slated to be euthanized. Their similar names and timing has prompted Nanette to further honor Killian's memory by re-naming Kilo, Killian. It would be our wish that rescue dog Killian have the same opportunity of an abundance of love as well as the wonderful home life that the Killian McCurdy did. Rest peacefully sweet boy, you will live on in your family's hearts forever.
  • Donna A. of Staten Island, NY fell in love with Ivy, a super sweet young female mastiff mix pup that Nanette just rescued from the Brooklyn Shelter. Although she is unable to adopt her, she wanted to help out with her rescue as Ivy waits for a new home and family. Donna so graciously sent $100 which will sponsor Ivy's boarding for 10 days. We are so appreciative of her generousity and kindness towards Ivy and our rescue efforts.
  • Joan M. of Brooklyn, NY who is one of our previous adopters and supporters, has again sent us another donation of $100. Joan so kindly added a note to her gift saying "As a thank you for bringing Saint into my life and to help you in helping all the animals that you so unselfishly care for." Joan, we continue to be so very appreciative of your thoughtfulness and generousity, and as always will use 100% of these funds to support our rescue efforts.
  • Julia S. of Basking Ridge, NJ has sent us a $100 sponsorship for Reily, an 8 year old senior Bullmastiff that Nanette rescued earlier this month. Julia is a Bullmastiff owner herself and has a definite love of the breed. She has also been a previous supporter of our rescue efforts of which we are so appreciative. Her generous and loving support of Reily's rescue will go to covering his boarding expenses and neutering while he waits for a loving home of his own. He's a lucky boy to have Julia in his corner!
  • Lynn F. of Farmingdale, NJ is one of our previous adopters who has yet again stepped up to support our efforts by sending in a $100 sponsorship for Reily, an 8 year old Bullmastiff that Nanette just rescued from the Manhattan Shelter hours before he was to be euthanized. Reily is a loving senior dog that was found as a stray, and after only 3 days at the shelter his time was up. We could not let this big boy die. Reily still has several years of love and loyalty to give someone, and now with Lynn's help he'll be able to have that opportunity. We are truly grateful for her generousity and kindness, and gave her the honor of naming him. :) The name Reily suits him perfectly!
June 2010
  • Chris L. and Stephanie H. of Brooklyn, NY are assisting Nanette in the re-homing of Sam, a loving lug of a Cane Corso Mastiff that Nanette rescued from the shelter. Chris and Stephanie fell in love with him when they saw him online, but are unable to adopt him. Instead they are generously sponsoring his boarding for 15 days with a $150 donation they made on his behalf. They are also driving down to the boarding kennel he is at, to give him some love and attention while he's waiting for a home of his own. While there, they are going to take some new pictures of him which will help Nanette get him the exposure he needs. They are also going to meet to Bruno, one of Nanette's other rescued Cane Corso's Mastiffs and take his picture too (Bruno has only his shelter mug shot posted because he hasn't had any others taken yet.) We are so appreciative of their generosity and kindness! This is definitely a group effort, and Sam (and Bruno) are lucky boys to have Chris and Stephanie in their corner. :)
  • Danicia A. of NY, NY is one of Nanette's foster moms (fostering & rehabilitating Antonia before she was adopted by a wonderful couple.) In addition to opening her heart and home to our rescue dogs, she has just sent in a wonderful donation of $100 in continued support our rescue efforts. Our foster families are such a wonderful asset to our rescue dogs, and Danicia and her family are no exception. Thank you so much for all your help, we are truly grateful.
  • Yet again we are blessed with another donation from Georgia M. of CT, one of our regular supporters and fan of our rescue efforts. Georgia, you continue to amaze us at your generousity and love towards our rescue dogs. Thank you so very much for your $100 gift to help us offset some of our monthly expenses.
  • Susan C. of RIchmond Hill, NY is an animal lover and long time friend of Katya's, with a big rescued furry family of her own. She had helped Katya to find homes for several shelter dogs back in the day before she was a partner in Waggin' Train. Susan just sent us a $50 donation which we'll use towards our rescue expenses. We are touched and so grateful for her support of our rescue dogs, and to once again reconnect with her friendship.
  • One of Jane's previous adopters Joanna F. of Brooklyn, NY just sent us a wonderful donation for $250. She included a beautiful note with it that we'd like to acknowledge. "This donation is made in honor of Chester Hansen Fernandes. We adopted Chester from Waggin' Train in 2005. He was a handful, but such an amazing being! We loved him with heart and soul. Chester passed away recently. Needless to say we are beyond heartbroken. Thank you for giving him a second chance at life with us. Rest assured he was very well loved. He was particularly spoiled by his grandfather, who was his best friend. So in honor of his grandfather's birthday and Chester's passing we could think of nothing more special than to make a donation to Waggin' Train Rescue. Best of luck with your continued efforts, Joanna and Christian" We are so very appreciative of Joanna & Christian's generous gift, and more importantly for giving Chester the opportunity to experience the chance at having a loving family and home of his own. Rest peacefully sweet boy, you will be missed greatly.
May 2010
  • Pamela C. and Douglas C. of Merrick NY have just adopted one of Katya's rescue dogs, a gorgeous German Shepherd named Big Rocky. Not only did they open up their hearts and home to one of our rescue dogs, they also showed their kindness and generousity towards our rescue efforts by making a separate donation of $100, so other dogs like Big Rocky get their second chance at finding loving homes. We're so grateful to them on both accounts.
  • Joy F. was just mentioned in the acknowledgment below, but this second time it is much harder to do. As I mentioned below, Joy has been such a great supporter of our efforts, and her enthusiasm for our rescue dogs spilled over to her mom Joyce. Joyce was always excited to meet Joy's new foster dog, or to hear the latest rescue story Joy had to tell. So, it is with great sadness that we were informed of Joyce's recent passing. One of her wishes was that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to our rescue. We are so honored to be remembered in such a way. Our sincere and deepest condolences go to Joy and her brother, as well as to Joyce's other family and friends.

David and Stacy M. of Amityville, NY share a friendship and love of dogs with Joy, and to honor that, have sent us a donation of $100 in the memory of her mom Joyce. We are very grateful for their thoughtfulness and gift.

Jacko was blessed to live a long life with them full of love and happiness. Though they are suffering much heartache at his passing, they will be able to celebrate great memories he shared with them. We are priviledged to receive this gift in his memory.
  • Kevin C. of Scarsdale, NY fell in love with our rescue pair Ben and Thomas and their story. We are so appreciative of his thoughtfulness and gift of $30 sponsorship towards their expenses. They are lucky boys, and have touched quite a few hearts! Thank you Kevin!
  • John E. of Haledon, NJ was a foster dad to Nanette's bonded pair of rescue pups Ben & Thomas. He loved them so much he sent in a donation of $300 on their behalf, to help us cover their initial boarding expenses and care. Not only are we thankful for him opening up his heart and home to these two sweeties, we are blown away by the kindness and generousity of his gift. Thank you so much John.
  • Julia S. of Basking Ridge, NJ has once again sent us a donation of $50 to support our rescue efforts. Julia, we're so grateful for your generousity and compassion for our rescue dogs!
  • One of our foster moms Joy F. of Northport, NY has been a huge supporter of our rescue efforts, by first fostering several dogs for us over the past couple of years, but also because she does some "grass roots" fund raising for us by placing a donation jar at her cafe on Long Island. Towards that end, we would like to give a big "shout out" to all the patrons of the Park Cafe in Hauppauge, NY for their continued generosity and compassion towards our rescue dogs. Joy just called in another donation of $300 that had been collected in her donation jar!! We'll be using those funds to help us with the costs of our boarding kennels, where most of our rescue dogs are kept while they wait for us to find them great homes.
April 2010

Thank you Reem, we are so thankful to you for your generosity!!
  • Julia S. of Basking Ridge, NJ has so kindly sent us a $50 donation to support us in our rescue efforts. We are so grateful for her generosity as well as her kindness in that she has referred our rescue to others looking for wonderful dogs.
  • Abigail M. of Brooklyn, NY fell in love with Ben and Thomas (two of Nanette's rescue dogs that she rescued from the Brooklyn Shelter. They were found as strays together, and are very bonded to one another. Nanette is trying to find them a home together, so they can remain playmates and brothers. Abigail has contributed $50 towards their boarding costs, which will be so helpful. Our boarding costs are our biggest expense, costing us $10/day per dog, while we search for permanent homes for them. Thanks Abigail!!!

Thank you so much Donna.
  • Jenn M. of North Adams, MA is a previous adopter of Nanette's. In fact, Jenn submitted an application for Nanette's very first foster dog Bandit when she first ventured into the rescue world 3.5 yrs ago. He had already been placed, but Jenn adopted a gorgeous moose of a German Shepherd named Eli instead (who is still with her) and Nanette & Jenn have remained friends since. Sadly, Jenn's other beloved rescue dog, a shepherd mix named Nina, passed away this week due to complications of old age. She died peacefully in Jenn's arms, and is deeply missed. In the midst of Jenn's heartache, she reached out to us, and made a $50 donation in Nina's memory. She would like it to go to another rescue dog that hasn't yet had the chance that her rescue dogs had, a loving home and family. She selected Sandy, one of Katya's rescue dogs who is an older shepherd mix that is in need of some medical care and a loving home. So, we'll use this generous gift towards Sandy's vet bills, and do so in honor of Nina's memory. Thank you Jenn, so very much. Please know we send you thoughts of peace and strength, and are so sorry for Nina's passing.

So Nanette has just rescued a young male rottie with a sweet disposition that was slated to be euthanized. Michelle has named him Bradey. We will use these funds to rescue a shelter dog today, giving them a chance to have a loving home and family like Maggie had. (Sawyer, a male rottweiler is the recipient of this combined donation. He was slated to be euthanized tomorrow morning because his time was up, and is now safe thanks to Maggie.)
  • Joanne S. of Salem, MA has been following Bubba's heart wrenching battle with pneumonia due to kennel cough, after being abandoned to a high kill shelter by his previous owners. We are doing everything in our power to get him through this crisis, and hoping that Bubba will continue to fight, so we can show him what a loving home & family is supposed to be. Joanne has sent us $100 towards his medical expenses, which we are so grateful for.
  • We received a donation of $25 from Cheryl R. of Wilmington, DE who was touched by sweet Goober's medical challenges. We are very thankful for her kindness and compassion, and will be using 100% of it towards her outstanding medical bills. • Chris C. of Boston, MA a good friend of Nanette's, and previous supporter of our rescue efforts, has once again sent us a wonderful donation, this time for $500 to help us offset our ongoing boarding expenses. • Margo W. of NYC & CA contacted Nanette wanting to sponsor 3 of the many wonderful dogs that were sitting at the Manhattan shelter, These particular 3 young dogs (one was still a pup) were slated to be euthanized within hours. With Margo's financial help to pay for their boarding, Nanette was able to rescue and save Lindy, Panda and Varrick (you can see them all posted on our Available Dog's page.) After three months of recovery, she was doing awesome, and we were so excited at the opportunity for Mary and Steve to meet her (they are previous adopters of ours.) Unfortunately for reasons unknown to us, her heart failed hours after her spay surgery and she died 36 hours before the meeting occurred.
